Body Sculpting Q & A

What is body sculpting with SculpSure?

SculpSure is an innovative laser tool that Dr. Speck Hopkins uses to destroy fat cells beneath your skin. The laser heats fat cells until they are too damaged to function, and then your body gradually eliminates the damaged cells through an immune process known as lipolysis.

The SculpSure tool has precision settings, which control the intensity and range of the laser. This means that only the unwanted fat cells are targeted, so your skin and surrounding tissues remain untouched and unharmed.

Is body sculpting permanent?

SculpSure permanently removes fat cells, so your results will be permanent as long as you continue to eat healthily and exercise regularly.

Which areas can body contouring address?

SculpSure is FDA-approved to reduce unwanted fat in the following areas:

  • Upper/lower belly
  • Upper/lower back
  • Inner/outer thighs
  • love handles
  • Waist
  • Hips
  • Below the chin

Frequently, Dr. Speck Hopkins can treat several areas in a single appointment. Multiple treatments may be needed to meet your individual needs.

What should I expect during my treatment?

At your initial consultation, Dr. Speck Hopkins performs a physical evaluation and takes a detailed health history. She’ll also discuss your goals for fat reduction and address any questions or concerns you may have about body sculpting.

When it’s time for your first treatment, you’ll recline in a comfortable position, and Dr. Speck Hopkins will move the SculpSure tool several times over each area to be treated. This usually takes about 30 minutes per area; most people don’t experience discomfort during the procedure. You will feel a mild warming sensation, and you may feel some tingling as the tool moves over your skin.

If you have anxiety about the treatment, or you’re extra sensitive, Dr. Speck Hopkins can offer you Nitronex™, which is an analgesic made up of nitrous oxide and oxygen. It numbs pain and has a low carbon footprint.

Because the laser used in SculpSure is gentle, there is no downtime following treatment, so you can return to normal activities right away. You might experience some stiffness or bruising in the treated area, but this should subside within a day.

When will I see results?

You’ll probably notice more definition in the treated area about six weeks after your first body sculpting treatment. Optimal results become visible after about 12 weeks.

Because fat reduction with SculpSure occurs gradually, your beautiful new look will feel natural, and you’ll feel radiant as you start to enjoy a more defined and toned physique.
